بعنوان نمایندگان سه نهاد ایرانی سکولار دموکرات، بدینوسیله مراتب امتنان اعضاء خود را به دو دلیل آشکار در تصمیم گیری بنیاد شما تقدیم می داریم. دلیل نخست مان گزینش ملت در حال مبارزهء ایران است برای دریافت جایزهء آزادی. جز آزادی هیج کلام دیگری نمی تواند ماهیت واقعی اهداف مبارزات ملت ایران را بازگو کند. اگر این ملت نمی خواهد تن به ایجابات حکومتی مذهبی – ایدئولوژیک بدهد نام این خواست نمی تواند جز طلب آزادی چیز دیگری باشد.
دلیل دوم ما برای این قدرشناسی انتخاب درست شما در مورد دریافت کنندهء معتمدی است که بخش مهمی از ملت ایران را نمایندگی می کند. آقای رضا پهلوی نه بخاطر اینکه ولیعهد پادشاه درگذشتهء ایران بوده و به استناد قانون اساسی منسوخ گذشته می تواند شاه ایران تلقی شود، بلکه بخاطر مواضع درست و آزادیخوهانه اش، و نیز بحاطر پایمری نیم قرنی اش در طلب این آزادی فراگیر، اکنون تنها انسان زنده ای است که نه بحاطر رسیدن به تاج و تخت از دست رفته بلکه برای آزاد سازی ملتی کهن از یوغ استبداد حکومتی مذهبی – ایدئولوژیک توانسته است اعتماد اکثریت ملت مبارزه ایران را حلب کند و برای اولین بار این جمع پهناور را صاحب نماینده ای معتمد سازد.
سپردن جایزه آزادی به ایشان نشان از درک عمیق بنیاد شما از موقعیت یگانهء چنین شخص ارجمندی است.
ما سکولار دموکرات های ایران، که رهبری شاهزاده را برای دوران گذار از این حکومت سرکوبگر به دوران شکوفائی سکولار دموکراسی در ایران پذیرفته ایم، قدردان تصمیم شمائیم و یقیئن داریم که نام بنیاد شما جزئی از تاریخ آیندهء سرافراز ایران خواهد بود.

Dear Mr. Saebisch,
As representatives of three Iranian secular democratic organizations, we write to express our members’ heartfelt appreciation for your Foundation’s decision, for two clear reasons.
First, we are grateful that you have chosen the Iranian people, in their ongoing struggle, to receive the Freedom Award. No word other than “freedom” can convey the true purpose of their struggle. When a nation refuses to submit to the dictates of a religious and ideological government, its demand can only be understood as a demand for freedom.
Second, we deeply appreciate your choice of a trusted representative to accept this award on behalf of a substantial part of the Iranian nation. Mr. Reza Pahlavi’s standing does not rest on his having been Crown Prince under Iran’s late monarch, nor on any claim to kingship under the country’s former constitution. Rather, it rests on his principled commitment to freedom and his half-century of sustained effort to secure that freedom for all Iranians. He has become the only living figure to have earned the trust of a majority of the Iranian people engaged in this struggle—not through a pursuit of the lost throne, but through his dedication to freeing an ancient nation from the yoke of religious and ideological tyranny. For the first time, this broad community has found a representative it can trust.
Entrusting him with the Freedom Award reflects your Foundation’s profound understanding of the unique standing of this distinguished individual.
